Occupational health

Many employees in airports, at construction sites, etc. inhale high amounts of toxic pollution every day.

Air quality limit values for workplaces are much weaker than limit values for public air quality and does not protect employees from adverse health effects. Hence, some employees are exposed to high levels of health hazardous air pollution every day at work – year after year – thereby suffering a significantly increased risk of morbidity and mortality. This is the case for employees working at polluted outdoor workplaces such as construction sites, ports, airports, etc., as well as polluted indoor workplaces such as many diesel trains, busses in city centres, restaurant kitchens, etc.

The National Board of Industrial Injuries in Denmark has recognised several cancer cases most likely caused by particle pollution at workplaces i.e., the workers had full financial compensation.

Simple behavioural and technical solutions can often reduce work-related exposure significantly.

Green Global Future promotes better occupational health by:

  • Measuring air pollution in workplaces and identifying pollution sources.
  • Finding simple behavioural and technical solutions to reduce exposure.
  • Implementing solutions with employees as well as the management.
  • Following up on measurements to make sure the exposure is reduced.
  • Arranging conferences and courses on best practice and solutions.
